Cassie (Turtle)

Cassie is such a sweet girl. She was born in May of 2022 and adopted as a kitten. We got a call from a kill shelter that had traced her microchip to us. She had been surrendered by her former owner. The contract they signed promised to bring her back to Feral Cat Rescue if they couldn’t keep her for any reasons. They didn’t honor this and as her foster mom I feel furious. How could anyone do this? Cassie has feelings. When I first got her she didn’t come out of her shell for at least 3 weeks. All she did was hide. It is ironic because her former owner had called her Turtle. Now she feels comfortable and is such a joy. I am sitting in my recliner and she is on the top of the recliner by my head. She loves to sleep really close to me. She greets me when I walk into a room. You couldn’t ask for a better companion. When we rescued her as a kitten from a feral colony, she had a severe eye infection and we could not save her eye. She was in great pain and our Vet thought the best thing would be to remove her eye. It had gone on too long without treatment. Now she is happy and safe. She needs someone to love her forever.
